The Marshall Vintage Modern 50-Watt Guitar Amplifier head uses a single channel with a choice of two foot-switchable “dynamic ranges.”
The Low range gives you the tone and gain of a stock Vintage Modern 50-watt Guitar Amplifier. The High range on the 2266 head adds an extra preamp tube to the signal path, providing some tasty classic rock tones.
Go from sparkling chime to compressed overdrive with a tap of the footswitch, and add your favorite outboard effects to the signal path via a series effects loop (with level selector) built into the versatile 2266 head.
Vintage Modern 50-Watt Guitar Amplifier at a Glance:
- Flexible preamp with a classic power section
- Master volume and reverb
- Effects loop
Versatile preamp, classic power section
Two “frequency selective” preamp voicings (called Body and Detail) give you incredible tonal flexibility, while the power amplifier is based largely on the first Marshall Vintage Modern 50-Watt Guitar Amplifier to be produced, with two KT66 output tubes yielding a fat and smooth tone.
A mid-boost switch on the front panel fattens the tone even more while a traditional Marshall tone control circuit enables you to fine-tune your sound.
Master volume and reverb
A master volume gives you the ability to manage this amp’s output effectively at any venue. A reverb level control mixes the onboard “plate” reverb with the direct signal, so you can make the signal as “wet” or “dry” as you wish. The reverb is foot-switchable for even more onstage flexibility.
Effects loop
The 2266 head includes a series effects loop so you can add outboard gear to your sound. Loop levels of -10dB and +4dB are selectable via a rear panel switch. You can completely bypass the effects loop also.
