Whether you are looking to get out in front of your amp or simply add some American tweed tube growl to your guitar sound, the Universal Audio Woodrow 55 amplifier pedal delivers expressive, album-ready studio tones at the flip of a switch.
Powerful UAFX Dual-Engine
The Universal Audio Woodrow 55 features dual-engine processing combined with UAD audio modeling expertise for an extremely authentic emulation of mid-’50s American tube combo amps. Cabinet/mic emulations can be bypassed for simply adding an overdrive or tonal flavor to your sounds. Or, immerse yourself in epic grungy distortion, all modeled from a golden-unit vintage tweed amp used for decades by everyone from The Eagles to Chuck Berry to Neil Young.
World-Class Amp Modeling
Drawing from the custom mic and speaker pairings of UAD’s OX Amp Top Box, the Universal Audio Woodrow 55 provides immediate access to inspiring studio tones. Six unique modeled speaker/mic combos are available to either take on the go or spice up your DAW recording, providing a huge range of sounds.
From Dapper to Dangerous, in Seconds
The Universal Audio Woodrow 55 features three classic boost circuits to give your tone that extra vintage tube growl that only a true American tweed amp can provide. Stock provides users with a clean boost in the stock amp circuit, which adds clean gain without adding distortion and slightly increases midrange and treble while decreasing bass as boost is added. KP-3K provides a boost from the KORG SDD-3000 ’80s delay rack-unit preamp, and provides a cleaner sound before the boost or pedals are engaged. EP-3 adds the preamp section of a ’70s Maestro EP-3 tape delay, unleashing a warm tone with plenty of gain, great for thickening sounds.
Two Classic Channels, Endless Possibilities
Staying faithful to the original the Universal Audio Woodrow 55 features two controllable channels, an instrument, and a mic, which directly emulate the volume controls of the classic American tweed amp. The instrument channel is brighter and more aggressive as it is turned up, while the mic channel is darker and cleaner, with more bottom end. Increasing or mixing both volume controls can alter the amp’s character, producing overdriven or compressed tones. These channels even feature expanded clean ranges, providing all of the gain of the original with an improved ability to dial in clean sounds compared to the source.
UAFX Mobile App
Want to just control all of the Woodrow ’55 features without having to bend over and adjust any knobs? UAD has you covered with a handy Bluetooth pairing function that allows you to alter any available parameter directly from your favorite mobile device through the UAFX Control mobile app. Customize features, explore presets, or even download new tones, models, and artist presets all with a few taps. You can even get deep and customize your footswitches for a wide array of functions.
Flexible Controls
With two footswitches, six knobs, and three switches, the Woodrow ’55 contains a bevy of control for those who want maximum sonic flexibility. Gain control for both the instrument channel and mic channel, output gain, room ambiance, treble tone, and boost amount all get dedicated rotary knobs so that any amp sound can be quickly dialed in. Speaker type, preset storage, and boost type all get three-position switches for extra flexibility. The dual footswitches default to on/off and preset switching, while further footswitch modes are available with the UAFX Control app.
Sophisticated I/O
The Woodrow 55 Instrument Amplifier Pedal provides users with an elegant and efficient I/O arrangement to enable plenty of options right out of the box. One mono input and one mono output are provided for basic use, while a secondary input and output are also provided for stereo linking. A multitude of connection combinations are possible, from sending stereo outs to an interface or stage PA to sending separate outs to different amps and effects loops, even more options are unlocked when using multiple Woodrow ’55 pedals in tandem. 4-Cable mode, compatible only with UAFX amp pedals, allows the addition of another switchable channel to any real guitar amplifier with an effects loop, allowing you to switch between your guitar amp’s built-in preamp section and the sounds in your pedals.
Built to Last
Featuring the timeless design and rugged craftsmanship that UA has become known for, the Woodrow ’55 pedal is built to last decades. Whether taken on the road or used in the studio, this pedal can be relied upon to deliver quality sound on demand.
